As the Samsung Galaxy S9 is getting closer to making its official debut, leaks and rumors are intensifying and the latest one claims the smartphone will boast stereo speakers and 3D emoji.
The Galaxy S9 is one of the most highly-anticipated smartphones of this year and a slew of leaks so far indicated that it will come with top-notch specs and features all around.
Galaxy S9 Dual Speakers
While all Galaxy flagships have packed impressive specifications for their time, however, none of them ever featured stereo speakers. Various other smartphone makers such as HTC and others have equipped their smartphones with stereo speakers for years, but Samsung never joined this trend.
According to the latest rumor, that may well change with the next-generation flagship. Korean publication ETNews reports (translated) that the Galaxy S9 will be the company's first smartphone to come with stereo speakers, which should translate to a superior audio experience.
The smartphone will reportedly have one speaker at the top and one at the bottom, which would be a great improvement over the current generation of Samsung flagships. Many Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 owners have complained that the speaker placement was unfortunate, as they'd accidentally cover it up when watching videos or playing games. The dual speaker setup should help avoid such issues.
While it's still in the rumor state for now, ETNews' claims that the upcoming flagship will sport dual speakers falls in line with a recent report from SamMobile. The Samsung-centric publication recently said the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus could boast stereo speakers with Dolby Surround sound and AKG tuning, but noted that the claims are unconfirmed.
Samsung Galaxy S9 3D Emoji
The latest report from ETNews also claims that the Galaxy S9 series will be able to create 3D emoji with the help of their front shooters. Apple already introduced the so-called Animoji with the iPhone X and stirred a great deal of interest, and a similar feature on Android would likely prove to be popular.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, 3D emoji use a device's front camera to capture the user's facial expressions and "emojify" them. The 3D emoji will reportedly feature animal characters as well and will allow users to share them with friends.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Release
Samsung has already announced a new Unpacked event scheduled for Feb. 25, where it's expected to take the wraps off its latest flagships. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus should become available for preorder shortly after the formal announcement, and should officially go on sale sometime in March.
