The phrase "bringing a knife to a gunfight" has taken on a new meaning thanks to a Call of Duty: WWII player who somehow managed to reach the game's max rank without using a single gun or firing a single bullet.
A YouTuber has become the first player to reach the "Master Prestige" title in the game without ever having to resort to guns for weapons. That is no easy feat, needless to say, but earning that achievement without using powerful long-range rifles or any sort of guns? That's simply insane.
Gun-Free 'Call Of Duty: WWII' Playthrough
Not insane enough to be impossible, as player TheseKnivesOnly has proven. He is a member of the gaming organization KARNAGE and has actually made it his mission to play Call of Duty gun-free since 2010's Black Ops.
In an email to Kotaku, TheseKnivesOnly said he first became interested in using only knives when, during a Search and Destroy match on the WMD campaign mission, a random player "hit a straight up tomahawk bomb defend," which he thought was an "epic kill."
"I thought it was the coolest thing ever and it sparked my interest for using knives."
Weapons He Used
Without guns, TheseKnivesOnly had to rely exclusively on knives, ice picks, shovels, and the bayonet charge to be able to climb to the top rank. Needless to say, it took a lot of time. He managed to garner over 32,000 kills and used only the Recon Aircraft and Counter Recon scorestreaks.
As mentioned, he's currently the only player in the world who has managed to achieve Prestige Rank in Call of Duty: WWII without shooting a single bullet, which Sledgehammer Games acknowledged and praised him for.

Call of Duty: WWII is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It's one of the best-selling games released in 2017. Black Ops sub-brand Treyarch has been confirmed to be making the next Call of Duty game, due 2018, which made rumors of Black Ops 4 extra credible, though Activision has yet to say anything about the project. Also, the game could be ported to the Nintendo Switch, if rumors are to be believed, though that doesn't seem too far-fetched given the console's success.
