Actress Mo’Nique has encouraged her fans to boycott Netflix after what she claims is a ruthless act of gender and color bias.

The video that was released Friday, Jan. 19, has gained over 100,000 views and over 6,000 comments.
The video shows the 50-year-old actress explaining her reason for calling the boycott on the streaming service. She started by saying she was offered $500,000 for a comedy special but soon discovered she was lowballed in terms of others asked to do the same job.
Mo’Nique revealed that she learned immediately after being asked to do the comedy special that Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, and Dave Chappelle were also asked but were offered way more money. She referred to Rock and Chapelle as comedy legends and they were offered $20 million and Amy was offered $11 million, after renegotiating with the streaming service.
The actress went on to say that she and her team asked the streaming service to explain why the pay difference was so great between all the entertainers. Mo’Nique also asked Netflix to take into account of her resume and acting credits and she said the company told her they don’t go off resumes.
However, Mo’Nique explained that she got angrier when the company said they have given Schumer more money because she sold out New York’s Madison Square Garden twice and had a top movie with Trainwreck. To which Mo’Nique replied that Netflix is using Schumer’s resume to determine her pay.
She ended the video asking fans to stand with her in this boycott against Netflix.
Netflix was reached for comment and said they do not speak out about contract negotiations.
At the moment, the streaming service currently plays a comedy special hosted by Mo’Nique titled Mo’Nique: It Coulda Been Your Cellmate!
