Warner Bros. Entertainment has revealed that a new Scribblenauts entry, titled Scribblenauts Showdown, will arrive on next-generation consoles very soon.
Warner Bros. and Shiver Entertainment announced that the entry to the Scribblenauts series will expand the puzzle-action adventure series to the Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch in March. Scribblenauts Showdown will arrive on March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe.
Warner Bros. is now teaming with the new developer, Shiver Entertainment, who has taken over for 5th Cell. 5th Cell previously produced five Scribblenauts titles between the years of 2009 and 2014. However, after the fifth title, the developer experienced major hardship. The studio suffered mass layoffs and even had to scrap its mobile iOS title, Scribblenauts: Fighting Words. The developer is still around but isn’t in the same shape as it once was.
The multiplayer game will bring back the main character Maxwell, who has been the star of the previous entries in the Scribblenaut series. The new title will also bring back new original characters to help compete in a series of multiple minigames, but there are a few different modes that will be introduced in Scribblenauts Showdown.
What’s New In 'Scribblenauts Showdown'?
The new Scribblenauts title will bring a few multiplayer features and minigames for the Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
One of the new multiplayer modes is called Showdown, which lets players team up in a group of four and compete in a variety of minigames. They’ll use card-based strategy to make their way to victory.
There is a minigame called "Wordy" that will require unleashing the best objects or characters from a vast dictionary. Another minigame dubbed "Speedy" will bring more action to the game and arrives when gamers beat a certain challenge.
Furthermore, there is a Versus mode that lets two gamers play head-to-head in a variety of minigame challenges. The challenges can be taken on alone, but in Versus, gamers have continuous play against their friends. There are 25 different minigames that will allow players to enjoy Versus mode in a variety of stages.
Lastly, there is an interesting mode titled Sandbox, which is similar to other modes and lets gamers compete in word-based summoning games. Players are able to solve different objectives in eight new levels by summoning an object using words. They’ll earn hidden Starites and achievements.
