CES 2018: HP Spectre x360 15 Debuts With 8th Gen Intel Chips, AMD Radeon RX Vega M, And More

As expected, CES 2018 bought a number of exciting announcements and HP unveiled several products, but the new HP Spectre x360 15 is worth special consideration.

The HP Spectre x360 15 is shaping up as a strong contender to Apple's MacBooks, boasting powerful specs and features wrapped up in an elegant body with a sleek and thin design.

Meet The HP Spectre x360 15

The new HP Spectre x360 15 is one of the first laptops to pack eighth-generation Intel Core processors with AMD's Radeon RX Vega M graphics, which should deliver enough oomph to handle Windows Mixed Reality and Oculus Rift VR requirements. The laptop can even play AAA games with intensive graphics at high settings, at 1080p.

Alternately, the laptop can also feature Nvidia GeForce MX 150 discrete graphics, depending on preferences. The latest Spectre x360 15 iteration also adds a number pad on the right side of the keyboard, while the rest is quite similar to the 2017 model.

World's Most Powerful Convertible PC

HP boasts that its premium Spectre x360 15 is the most powerful convertible currently on the market, delivering a speedy performance and "powerful discrete graphics to effortlessly create, edit and stream 4K and 3D content."

Although the performance and graphics on the latest Spectre x360 15 model are significantly more powerful, HP says that the convertible laptop will still deliver up to 13.5 hours of battery life, depending on CPU.

As a convertible, the HP Spectre x360 15 allows users to try out various screen positions suitable for different scenarios. The 15.6-inch screen makes it too big to use comfortably as a tablet, but it can make a great canvas if necessary. The new HP Tilt Pen also delivers a high-end experience, allowing users to shade at various angles with ease, just like one would on paper.

HP Spectre x360 15 Specs

The HP Spectre x360 15 further comes with a fingerprint scanner, two Thunderbolt USB Type-C ports for fast data transfers or connecting 4K displays, an infrared webcam for Windows Hello, up to 16 GB of RAM, an up to 2 TB PCI-based flash storage.

Configurations include a quad-core eighth-generation Intel Core i7-8550U processor with Nvidia MX150 graphics or a quad-core Kaby Lake-G processor with AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL. To accommodate the new number pad, HP moved the speakers above the keyboard and centered the touchpad so that it's more convenient to use.

The HP Spectre x360 15 will be ready to ship on March 18, at a $1,369.99 starting price.
