Nintendo recently released the Champions' Ballad DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but director Hidemaro Fujibayashi is already looking forward to what will come next to the critically acclaimed game.
Champions' Ballad has rejuvenated interest in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, especially with the introduction of Link's motorbike, the Master Cycle Zero. How will the game's developers beat that?
What's Next For 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild'?
In an interview with IGN, Fujibayashi provided insight into his plans for the future of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
"I can't say at this point if it will be in sequels or in continuations, or what form it will take, but I definitely have lots of ideas and lots of motivation right now," Fujibayashi said.
Fujibayashi added that as the team worked on the main game of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and its DLCs, feedback from both colleagues and fans helped generate new ideas on what else can be added to the open-world adventure.
Producer Eiji Aonuma, meanwhile, compared the release of DLCs to raising children, as it allowed the developers to improve The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with new ideas, instead of having to push back the implementation of the ideas to the next game.
More DLCs to further expand the universe created in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild makes sense for Nintendo, as players still find themselves immersed in the game's open world.
Meanwhile, while there is talk about a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it might not happen any time soon. Aonuma, in an interview earlier this year, told Gamereactor that there are still no plans for a next Zelda game.
