The great thing about post-game content on Arms is that Nintendo has released them all for free. Other games would usually charge players for new players and stages, while other companies flat-out milk gamers dry with tons of shady post-game practices. Nintendo thankfully didn't go this route — or else players would have had to pay for this new fighter named Misango, plus a new jungle stage called Temple Grounds.
They arrive as part of the Arms 4.0 update, rolling out to users for free on Wednesday, Nov. 15. As the trailer shows, Misango has quite a personality and is capable of lots of things too. He can wear either one of three special masks that temporarily boosts his powers, for instance, and also pull off things such as poison punches and torpedo arms.
Arms 4.0: New Fighter Misango
Destructoid thinks Misango looks like an Aztec, which is kind of true. He even has this mysterious spirit entity that follows him wherever he goes, similar to Link's companion, Navi, in the Legend of Zelda franchise.
The spirit does more than follow, though: this entity is what gives Misango his special powers. Whenever Misango jumps or dash to fully charge, he is able to absorb the spirit in its current state.
Alternatively, he can inhibit the spirit by charging via a guard, and after that guard is held long enough, the spirit will transform into this small pillar of energy that Misango can use to deflect attacks.
There are three arms Misango can use: Scorpio, Glusher, and Skully. Scorpio is a poison-injecting arachnid arm that crawls into the ground, reaches its target, then stabs them with "PURPLE LOVE!!!" according to the Nintendo Treehouse blog.
Glusher, meanwhile, is also imbued with poison and is similar to the Blorb, another weapon in Arms's arsenal.
Finally, Skully not only has the ability to poison but is also the fastest arms in the game. The downside is that it's light, meaning it might not be able to deflect certain attacks from opponents.
Arms 4.0: New Stage
The Temple Grounds stage is filled with columns and long posts. Certain attacks can break these, actually. The jungle stage looks significantly tropical, though it has an eerie sense of calmness as well. It's definitely one of the more unique stages in the game.
The Arms 4.0 update is available now for all Nintendo Switch players.
