Nintendo should be worried for its SNES Classic Edition, as the Analogue Super Nt is coming soon to take the throne as the ultimate retro console for SNES games.
The SNES Classic Edition supply appears to be at a much better state compared to that of Nintendo's previous retro console, the NES Classic Edition. However, the Analogue Super Nt will provide a lot of significant advantages for gamers willing to shell out a little bit of extra cash.
Meet The Analogue Super Nt: Price, Features, And Other Details
Analogue unveiled the Analogue Super Nt as "a reimagining of perhaps the greatest video game system of all time."
The Analogue Super Nt is the successor of the Analogue Nt, which was released in 2015 for a whopping $499. A slightly cheaper version of the retro console, the Analogue Nt Mini, was rolled out last year, but at $449, was still beyond the budget of casual gamers.
Analogue's answer to Nintendo's SNES homage, however, comes at a much more affordable price of $189. The retro console still costs more than double the $79 SNES Classic Edition, but its features will make gamers think harder about shelling out a bit more for best possible SNES experience.
The Analogue Super Nt, unlike the SNES Classic Edition, is compatible with all original SNES and Super Famicom cartridges, as well as the accessories for the two consoles. The device, which comes with a single cartridge slot and a pair of controller ports, is said to have been engineered with a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip. This means that the Analogue Super Nt does not need to emulate the SNES games, but is capable of playing them at 1080p HDMI output with no lag and complete accuracy.
Players will still be able to access the features of the Analogue Super Nt's more expensive predecessors, including the ability control resolution, aspect ratio, and other visual aspects, including high-fidelity audio.
The Analogue Super Nt also comes with an SD card slot, which will likely enable other classic consoles on the device similar to what was done with the Analogue Nt Mini.
Analogue Super Nt Preorders Now Open
The Analogue Super Nt can now be preordered through the company's online store, where it is stated that the retro console will start shipping in February 2018.
Gamers will have four color schemes to choose from, namely the all-black option, the classic gray and purple option, the Super Famicom option, and the transparent option. All purchases will come with an HDMI cable, a USB cable, a worldwide USB power supply, and a massive mountain of nostalgia.
