Square Enix has rolled out update 1.13 for Final Fantasy XV, adding several new things to the popular RPG, including the return of the criticized Magitek Exosuits.
The update, which has a size of about 2.5 GB on PlayStation 4, can now be downloaded by players on the console and on the Xbox One.
Final Fantasy XV Update 1.13 Brings Back Magitek Exosuits
Earlier in the year, Square Enix revealed the Magitek Exosuits, which are armor that the Final Fantasy XV party can wear once every 24 hours to become invincible for 30 minutes. However, Square Enix went back to the drawing board after the Magitek Exosuits were found to be too similar to the suits of the rebooted Power Rangers franchise.
Update 1.13 finally rolls out the Magitek Exosuits, which now look much more formidable. While the earlier version of the armor came in different bright colors, which is partly why they were compared to the Power Rangers, the new version only features shades of black, gray, and white, with just a tinge of gold for color.
The new Magitek Exosuits appear to be more menacing, but their planned functionality remains the same. However, when the 30-minute invincibility wears off, players can choose to keep Prince Noctis and his crew wearing the armor as they travel across the world of Eos.
What Else Is In 'Final Fantasy XV' Update 1.13?
The updated Magitek Exosuits are not the only contents of the Final Fantasy XV update 1.13 though, as there are many more awaiting gamers.
A new quest, named "O Partner, My Partner," has been added to the Meldacio Hunter HQ after the completion of Chapter 8. A new Cross Chain collaboration system has also been added to the game, and it can be used once players acquire the Sword of the Wise and the Axe of the Conqueror, both Royal Arms. The system increases the number of linked attacks to deal significant damage to defensive enemies.
Update 1.13 also reopens the Moogle Chocobo Carnival, which will remain accessible until Sept. 31. Players can enter the carnival by traveling to Altissia, where they can enjoy mini-games, Chocobo water races, and Moogle Chocobo items at the Square Enix Café menu.
The patch will soon be followed by a beta for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XV multiplayer mode, which will run from Aug. 3 to Aug. 8. The beta will be accessible to players who purchased the season pass for the game.
Square Enix is said to have big things in store for Final Fantasy XV at Gamescom. Meanwhile, players can take the Regalia out for a spin in Forza Horizon 3.
