The iOS 11 public beta 2 is now available to every iPhone and iPad user who's opted to test it here and there.
Apple is sending it out as an over-the-air update. That means it's pretty simple to install, but in case it's unclear, here's what you need to do.
How To Install iOS 11 Public Beta 2
Step 1: Head to the Settings app.
Step 2: Tap on General.
Step 3: Tap on Software Update.
Step 4: Download and install iOS 11.
Note: You may be asked to make some space by deleting a few apps. You'll have the options to Continue, which will automatically remove apps temporarily and install them afterward, or Later, which will simply put the update on hold.
Easy, right? Well, what you really want to take note of here is the backup process since installing OTA updates has always been more or less straightforward.
As everyone knows, beta programs are spotty at best. Apple even warns users that they can brick or corrupt your data. That said, it's never a bad idea to make a backup of your iPhone and iPad's data before taking the plunge.
As for how to make a backup, just plug in your device to your computer, open iTunes, and click on Back Up Now. Keep in mind that you'll need to encrypt your backup if you want to save your Health and Activity data.
When all of that's set up, you can restore your device back to a working version of iOS when it runs into a major problem.
Now it's worth mentioning that before you can get your hands on iOS 11 public beta 2, you're going to need to join Apple's program first, which we have a handy guide for in case you need a little help.
