Instagram Bug Locks Users Out Of Their Accounts

Frustrated Instagram users report that their accounts have been suddenly disabled. Instagram says it's a bug and it's working on a fix.

Many users have been unable to log into their Instagram accounts, which seemed to have been deleted or disabled without any sort of warning. Users got no explanation as to why they couldn't access their accounts. Not all users were affected.

Angry users who couldn't access their Instagram accounts took to Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and other online platforms to report the issues and demand an explanation. Users also flooded a Twitter post by Instagram, demanding an explanation. Instagram's post on Twitter was not about the bug, but users flooded the comment section with questions and complaints about their account issues.

Instagram Bug Makes Accounts Seem Deleted Or Disabled

It seems that a bug is to blame for this whole matter, making accounts seem like they were deleted. Instagram is looking into the problem and working on a fix, so it should restore all accounts as soon as possible.

"We're aware of a bug that is causing some users to be logged out of their accounts," says Instagram. "We're working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

As of this writing, Instagram has made no official statement regarding what happened exactly, nor has it offered a timeframe for when affected accounts should return to their normal state.

So far, no common denominator appears to make any sort of connection between affected accounts. The bug disabled the accounts of a wide range of users — some of whom used the platform for personal posts, others for business posts, others had multiple accounts, while others had just one account and barely used it.

Just A Glitch

The bug doesn't just log users out of their accounts, as the affected accounts appear disabled to others as well. When attempting to view an affected user's Instagram profile, a message says "Sorry, this page isn't available."

Many users reported having their account disabled for no reason and with no warning, while others report receiving a message that their account was disabled for violating Instagram's terms. Some users also got a prompt to submit their phone number for account verification, but they never got any confirmation SMS, and their accounts remained disabled.

Since it's just a glitch, everything should return to normal once Instagram figures out what went wrong so it can fix it. Have you experienced any issues with your Instagram? If so, what message did you get? Let us know in the comments section below.
