Best Buy Offers $200 Gift Cards With Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8/ S8 Plus

Best Buy has a new deal in place for smartphone shoppers, offering $200 gift cards when purchasing the Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ unlocked.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are Samsung's latest flagships and they're among the hottest smartphones currently available on the market, topping consumer preferences.

The two handsets are packed with top-notch specs and features all around and can easily handle virtually any task you throw at them, but all that oomph does not come cheap. Flagship smartphones are notoriously expensive and buying them unlocked, at full retail price, is quite a hefty investment.

Best Buy Samsung Galaxy S8/ S8 Plus Deal

To soften the blow of buying an unlocked Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+, Best Buy is now offering $200 gift cards that consumers can then use to buy anything from Best Buy. Customers can put that amount toward buying some accessories for the new smartphone, or getting something else entirely.

The unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 costs $724.99 at Best Buy, while the unlocked Galaxy S8+ goes up to $824.99. Both smartphones come with 64 GB of internal storage space, and both are available only in Midnight Black avatars at Best Buy. The full price is a bit intimidating, but the free $200 discount could translate to a lower price of $524.99 for the Galaxy S8 and $624.99 for the Galaxy S8+. Considering what the smartphones have to offer, that's not a bad deal at all. Best Buy is also throwing in a free Insignia holder/ stand.

On the other hand, this is not a cash offer, so the rebate doesn't actually bring down the cost of the device per se, it just makes it seem more affordable. That said, the gift card helps only if you actually want to buy something else worth $200 from Best Buy. You will not be able to get the $200 in cash instead of buying more stuff.

The unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ is both GSM and CDMA-friendly so it will play nice with all major carriers in the United States, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

Samsung Galaxy S8/ S8 Plus Highlights

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ feature sleek designs with gorgeous Infinity Displays, powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processors, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of native locker space. Both handsets run Android Nougat, but will receive an upgrade to Android 8.0 O later on, when the new OS becomes available.

On the downside, while the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ design has received high praise and it's considered one of the best smartphone designs to date, Samsung has also received some criticism over the placement of the fingerprint sensor. The company removed the physical home button for a greater screen-to-body ratio and moved the fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, but its location right next to the rear camera is uncomfortable.

Nevertheless, both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are true powerhouses and they're both in high demand. The new Best Buy promotion is not the best deal we've seen, but it's a solid perk for those already considering purchasing an unlocked flagship.
