Officials arrested a 17-year-old high school student in Florida who was accused of running a prostitution ring wherein underage girls were sold for money and alcohol. She was identified as Alexa Nicole de Armas of Sarasota High School. Alexa faces a felony charge of human trafficking that involves a person who is not yet 18.
Likewise, a 15-year old boy from Venice High School was charged with the same human trafficking case on Tuesday, four days after Alexa's arrest.
The girl denied the accusation and didn't want to cooperate with the police.
Police also arrested John Mosher, who was an alleged customer of the prostitution syndicate. Mosher, a 21-year-old dishwasher at a restaurant, was placed under a sexual battery charge after having sex with a 15-year-old. He is now held in jail in Sarasota County and has no bond privileges.
The teens were reportedly using Facebook in their illegal operation. According to reports, Alexa would charge people to pay $50 to $70 in exchange for oral sex. If they want a virgin, the price becomes $100.
In one of the posts on the Facebook page, the message reads: "Why pimp out old hoes when I have fresh young hoes I can give up for money?" The student ringleader also added, "As long as I'm getting paid I'm trafficking all these...."
The ringleader pays the girls 40 percent of the profits for their "services." There's even an offer to invest in the fledgling business with the amount of $200.
The ring was uncovered after four students opened up to administrators at Venice High School. They said that a male Venice High student and Alexa had asked them to join their prostitution ring.
Documents showed that the teens concocted the plan on getting young girls as prostitutes over the summer for money and alcohol.
Alexa allegedly arranged for Mosher to have sex with a young 15-year-old girl in a community pool shed. The victim, who was forced into the prostitution, said that she was forcefully held against the wall of the pool shed building after telling Mosher that she did not want to do it.
Mosher is not allowed to have any form of contact with the victim nor with Alexa.
Police who are investigating the case found that there were no lewd acts which took place on school property.
