Alleged OnePlus 5 camera samples have just leaked, hinting toward a monochrome dual camera setup for the forthcoming flagship, which OnePlus itself confirmed will launch this summer.
OnePlus 5 To Sport A Monochrome Sensor
We've heard very little about the handset, except that its dual cameras will be a key feature. In fact, OnePlus has confirmed that it's working on the phone's cameras with image and video quality analyst DxOMark.
Before OnePlus officially announced that collaboration, however, a leaker already published alleged camera samples taken with the OnePlus 5. Now, that same leaker has followed with a new set of camera samples that indeed look gorgeous.
As True-Tech reports, there are two images included in the new set of leaks that hint toward a monochrome sensor.
For the uninitiated, a monochrome sensor helps the main camera get more detail, which in turn provides sharper and better-looking photos, particularly in low-light situations.
The leaker also mentioned that the OnePlus 5 will sport a 16-megapixel main sensor with an aperture of f/1.8.
If OnePlus 5 is indeed making one of the phone's dual cameras a monochrome sensor, the results make it seem that it's a wise decision. The photos look sharp, rich in detail, and vibrant. They appear to be huge improvements over the ones we've seen via previous leaks.
True-Tech has put up a handy Google Drive link for anyone who wants to download, view, examine, and analyze the photos on their own.
OnePlus 5 Rumors
The OnePlus 5 has been a hot topic lately. Most recently, its alleged packaging was leaked, seemingly confirming a dual camera setup. The packaging also hinted that OnePlus might heavily focus on the flagship's camera capabilities come time it markets the phone.
There are also talks that the OnePlus 5 will be the slimmest smartphone, as per OnePlus CEO Pete Lau's comments. However, it's not clear whether this is in contrast to the OnePlus lineup, or the whole smartphone market in general.
OnePlus has confirmed that the handset will pack in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, which makes it the second phone to feature the processor after the Samsung Galaxy S8. The chip will "set the foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance."
Aside from the Snapdragon 835 chip, the OnePlus could be a true powerhouse phone based on specs rumors say it'll come with, including 6 GB of RAM, a 3,600 mAh battery, and a 5.5-inch display.
Unsurprisingly, the OnePlus 5 is said to be affordable, which if true will fulfill the quality that made OnePlus devices iconic in the first place — their relatively cheap price for top-tier specs. Rumors suggest a starting price of $450, which seriously undercuts other top-tier flagships in the market.
As always, have a bit of caution with the rumors mentioned above, regardless how legitimate leaks, renders, and camera samples may seem. OnePlus should unveil the handset soon enough, anyway, so it's best to just hear it straight from the horse's mouth.
