PlayStation Live from E3 2017 Live Stream
According to a PlayStation blog post, the PlayStation Live from E3 2017 live stream will cover four days of E3 2017.
The coverage includes the PlayStation Media Showcase on June 12, which will start at 5 p.m. PT, followed by the E3 2017 event proper from June 13 to June 15. During the first two days, the live stream will run from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. PT, and on the third day, it will run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. PT.
All in all, there will be more than 15 hours of live content streamed through the PlayStation Live from E3 2017 broadcast.
While the live stream will be available through a variety of channels such as Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube, the recommended destination for gamers is live.playstation.com. This is because those who watch PlayStation Live from E3 2017 through the official PlayStation Live website will be able to complete quests that will allow them to unlock rewards. These rewards are free items that viewers can win, though only available while supplies last. Sony has not revealed what the rewards are, but they will likely be related to the games that will be part of E3 2017.
In addition to the rewards, the official PlayStation Live website also offers curated collections for content such as developer interviews and trailers for new titles.
Sony also announced that the PlayStation E3 Experience will be returning this year. The event will allow hundreds of PlayStation fans from the United States, Canada, and South America to watch the PlayStation Media Showcase in a local cinema. Further details, including the theaters that will participate, will be revealed over the next few weeks.
PlayStation Network Users Reach Record High
The announcement for PlayStation Live from E3 2017 comes just as Sony's PlayStation Network reached a record number of 70 million monthly active users.
The achievement of the milestone, which was announced in the company's corporate strategy meeting in Tokyo, widens the gap between the PlayStation Network and rival Microsoft's Xbox Live, which only had about 52 million active users in the previous quarter.
Additional information presented during the meeting revealed that PlayStation 4 users collectively spend 600 million hours every week playing on the video game console. Sony, however, would like to further improve the content of PlayStation Plus to attract more gamers to subscribe to the service.
