The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to release in the second half of the year and rumors pertaining to the device suggest that it may launch with a dual-camera setup. A dummy unit of the Galaxy Note 8 leaked online and offers a glimpse into the design of the impending handset.
Images of the Galaxy Note 8 dummy were first spotted on Weibo and are courtesy reliable tipster Reviewer. There is also a video from TechNavi that shows off the Galaxy Note 8 next to the visibly smaller Galaxy S7 edge. TechNavi made the Galaxy Note 8 dummy unit based on the leaked sketch.
"This Note 8 is based from a video I made that was fully based on a leaked sketch, matching that sketch in every dimension," TechNavi notes in the YouTube video, which was posted on May 20.
What Does The Galaxy Note 8 Dummy Unit Leak Reveal?
The leaked images on Weibo of the Galaxy Note 7's successor shows off the rumored vertically aligned dual-rear cameras on the back. One can also espy the dual LED flash beneath the cameras. The leaked images also show off the front panel of the Galaxy Note 8's dummy unit.
The leaked images do not show the presence of a fingerprint scanner on either the front or rear of the Galaxy Note 8. This suggests that Samsung has found an effective way of embedding the security feature in the Galaxy Note 8's screen. The South Korean company faced criticism for placing the fingerprint scanner on the rear of the Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy S8. The odd placement of the sensor on the rear of the device, next to the camera, drew flak from users as they accidentally ended up touching the camera as well. Samsung reportedly had to take this route as it was encountering difficulty in embedding the biometric security feature in the front display.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Video
The TechNavi video of the nearly bezel-less Galaxy Note 8 dummy unit shows off the cut outs for the speaker. The 3.5mm headphone jack is also visible on the unit, which suggests that Samsung is not ditching it in favor of a USB Type-C port. The front panel reveals the presence of the iris scanner. TechNavi also highlights the presence of a button on the right side of the Galaxy Note 8, which may possibly be the camera button.
