OnePlus has a history of releasing smartphones described as flagship killers, and with the leaked specs sheet and Geekbench scores of the upcoming OnePlus 5, it seems that the trend will continue.
While the information about the smartphone has not yet been confirmed by OnePlus, the OnePlus 5 looks like it is shaping up to be a legitimate competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S8.
OnePlus 5 Leaked Specs Sheet, Price
A previous leak on the specifications of the OnePlus 5 claims that the smartphone will have 6 GB of RAM, not 8 GB of RAM as speculated, along with a 3,600 mAh battery and 128 GB of internal storage. Leaked sketches of the smartphone, meanwhile, reveal the vertical arrangement of the OnePlus 5 dual rear cameras while also showing other design details such as its tapered sides and ports.
Despite these leaks, there were still many questions surrounding the OnePlus 5. A leaked specs sheet of the smartphone, however, provides the answer for most of them.
Acquired by Slash Leaks, the alleged OnePlus 5 specs sheet provides all the technical details of the upcoming smartphone. Highlights include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, Android 7.1 Nougat, 23-megapixel rear cameras, 16-megapixel selfie camera, 5.5-inch screen, and 4,000 mAh battery.
Another important detail in the leaked specs sheet is that the OnePlus 5 will indeed have up to 8 GB of RAM. The previous leak did mention that there is the possibility that a version of the smartphone will come with such a specification, so the specs sheet could be that of the high-end version of the OnePlus 5. Of course, there is also the possibility that the previous leak was inaccurate and that all units of the OnePlus 5 will have 8 GB of RAM.
Perhaps even more significant than the specs sheet is another document that reveals the OnePlus 5's price. The sheet states the price of the OnePlus 5 will start at $450, which is significantly cheaper than the $650 price tag of the Galaxy S8.
OnePlus 5 Leaked Geekbench Score
A separate report by GSMArena claims that it has received a screenshot from a credible source that revealed the Geekbench score of the OnePlus 5.
The screenshot shows the OnePlus 5's impressive scores of 1963 for single-core and 6687 for multi-core. The multi-core score of the OnePlus 5 is much higher than the score of 6375 for the Galaxy S8+, but its single-core score lags behind the score of 3473 for the iPhone 7 Plus and only slightly to the score of 1978 for the Galaxy S8+.
If the leaked Geekbench score is true, then that means that OnePlus 5 will be a much faster and more powerful device compared to Samsung's current flagship models.
Should Samsung Worry About The OnePlus 5?
The Samsung Galaxy S8 has several things going for it that the OnePlus 5 will not surpass, including the Infinity Display, Iris scanner, and the Bixby digital assistant.
However, considering the leaked specifications, price, and Geekbench score of the OnePlus 5, Samsung should definitely be concerned that a legitimate challenger to the Galaxy S8 is on its way.
It is unclear when OnePlus will officially unveil the OnePlus 5, but signs are pointing that the announcement is coming soon.
