A couple of women who underwent a butt lift surgery in Miami have been hospitalized, following complications arising from the procedure.
A butt lift is a surgical procedure that helps in improving the appearance of one's buttocks. It is part of a process known as belt lipectomy, which involves the lifting or contouring of the groin, thighs, buttocks, and the abdomen area.
A butt lift may help in improving the body image and create a toned look, which many individuals desire.
The Incident
Cases of butt lift surgeries going wrong have caught the attention of many. The latest case highlights the plight of two women, who were hospitalized after undergoing a Brazilian butt lift in Seduction Cosmetic Surgery Center in Miami. As stated by the family members of the women, they were taken to the Aventura Hospital.
According to Dr. Joshua Lampert, a plastic surgeon who treated both the women at the emergency room of Aventura Hospital, the two women were bleeding severely and needed intensive care and blood transfusions.
One of the women was Crystal Call, who was from New York, and had come for the surgery on March 15. She was admitted in the intensive care unit of the hospital, but has now been released. The other patient was 28-year-old Shaberiya Hill who is still in the ICU.
"It just went on for, like, five hours, and finally I went back there and said, I want to see my daughter. They all blocked me, like, five nurses blocked me from going in the back," said Maria Basham, Call's mother.
She also shared that it had beenseven hours since her daughter was admitted, which rang alarm bells and she knew something was wrong.
Hill's mother, on the other hand, advised women who want to undergo cosmetic procedures to spend extra money on safety.
The common complications of a butt lift include blood clots, excessive loss of blood, bruising, numbness and pain, deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications, and infections. It can also result in the inflammation of lungs due to fat being injected in the blood stream and fat embolism.
Brazilian Butt Lift Goes Wrong: A First?
A similar incident occurred before this tragic event where Ranika Hall, a 25-year-old woman from Missouri, had a Brazilian butt lift procedure which ultimately caused her death.
Hall's cosmetic surgery was done on March 16 at the Eres Plastic Surgery Clinic located in Hialeah, Florida. She lost consciousness after the process was completed. Hall was unresponsive afterwards and so the Hialeah Fire Department was called immediately. She had stopped breathing by then and passed away within an hour.
This case is being investigated by the police, as well as by the Florida Department of Health and the State Attorney's Office. The reasons for her tragic death are not known.
