Google Home is constantly innovating itself. Just a month after announcing the voice shopping feature, Google has dropped another exciting update which is the find from store.
With this feature, Google looks to continue expanding its artificial assistance platform. The company announced at Shoptalk 2017 that Google Home users may soon be able to inquire about local product availability. The device will then provide the user with a complete list of shops, where it is available, and the other relevant details.
Google Home Update
Jonathan Alferness, the VP of Product Management, Shopping and Travel said in a Shoptalk keynote that the new update to the Google Assistant would feature local inventory data relayed by retailers who broadcast their advertisements on Google. He also pointed out that a majority of customers checked online for the availability of a certain product.
Interestingly, a large section of smartphone users already speak to their devices to inquire about products and services.
Google said that the newest update will be released in the near future and has ample scope for retailers' benefit.
Google Home is at loggerheads with rival Amazon's Alexa, which is said to be generating plenty of income, and the company is trying out new things to stay relevant.
Google Voice Shopping Feature
Google announced in February that the Google Home would be getting a new feature added to its arsenal. Users would be able to shop from some listed retailers, using voice commands and queries.
For example, a user would simply have to say "OK Google, order for a pair of jeans," and the Assistant would confirm your order.
"Starting today, you can shop for your everyday essentials — from paper towels to vitamins. You'll be able to order from participating Google Express retailers, including Costco, Whole Foods Market, Walgreens, PetSmart, Bed Bath & Beyond and more than 50 other national and locally available retailers," said a blog post on Google's website.
The find from store feature would build on this functionality.
