The Huawei P10 Lite is now official, though unlike the P10 and the P10 Plus, Huawei doesn't appear to be making too much of a deal out of it, let alone acknowledge its existence when leaks first came around. It does, however, exist, and is a pretty good midrange Android smartphone.
The Huawei P10 Lite borrows some of the P10's design elements, complete with a narrow bezel and a compact body. It comes in either Platinum Gold or Midnight Black, although more colorways are expected down the line.
This isn't actually the first time we've seen the P10 Lite. GSMArena notes that the phone has been sitting in the pan of numerous leaked reports, retailer listings, and more. So it being official doesn't really come as a surprise.
With the P10 Lite, the focus is still on performance, camera, and battery life, but this time at a cheaper price than its full-fledged flagship counterparts. The spec sheet of the P10 Lite isn't a surprise, since everything there is to know about the handset has been online for quite some time.
Huawei P10 Lite Specs
It's already public knowledge that it'll come with a 5.2-inch display with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, be powered with a proprietary Kirin 658 chip and a Mali-T830MP2 GPU, and pack 4 GB of RAM with 32 GB of internal storage. Like most phones, its storage may also be expanded.
On the back of the P10 Lite is a 12-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 lens, and on the front is an 8-megapixel shooter. Huawei has similarly equipped the P10 Lite with the Portrait Selfie mode found on the P10, so the P10 Lite's camera app can snap some pretty cool selfies with bokeh effects just as well.
Powering it all is a 3,000 mAh battery that's capable of 18 W fast charging, which is pretty impressive for a phone that's under the midrange category. The phone will ship with Android Nougat off the bat, along with the latest version of EMUI 5.1, tagging all of Huawei's proprietary EMUI features such as knuckle gestures, Power Saver 5.0, and more. Other features include GPS, NFC, and a fingerprint scanner — the whole nine yards basically.
Huawei P10 Lite Pricing And Availability
Preorders for the P10 Lite is now available, but only in the UK through a number of retailers, including Vodafone, EE, and Carphone Warehouse. It will cost £299 ($371). The P10 Lite goes on preorder side-by-side the P10 and P10 Plus, although both of those phones are considerably much more expensive.
The Huawei P10 and the P10 Lite will go on sale beginning March 31, though whether it's bound to hit stateside remains to be seen. The P10 Plus will go on sale shortly after on April 7. For its price and features, the P10 Lite is looking to be a pretty stellar phone, and it could become the perfect midrange entry for those who might balk at the pricier P10 and P10 Plus.
