Rejoice, '90s kids — your beloved Capcom Disney classic games are making a comeback!
Capcom has announced a release of The Disney Afternoon Collection, a game bundle containing six retro Disney games released for the Nintendo Entertainment System during the 8-bit era in the '90s. The collection is a remaster of the games Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, DuckTales, DuckTales 2, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2. The collection will also include new game modes, concept art, and bonus music.
The Disney Afternoon Collection will be making your afternoons nostalgic when it hits the stores on April 18 on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 systems. SRP is $19.99.
Retro 8-Bit Favorites Make A Comeback
Capcom tweeted the announcement including the video trailer. The Disney Afternoon Collection is named after the Disney Afternoon cartoons programming block and it will contain six games based on four shows. These are:
Darkwing Duck - Fight crimes as the caped — or winged — crusader Darkwing Duck as he tries to stop Steelbeak and his feathered cohorts from wreaking chaos. A treat for platformer lovers!
TaleSpin - Hit the skies as the pilot bear Baloo in this 2D shooter based on the classic Disney show.
DuckTales and DuckTales 2 - Join Scrooge McDuck in his pogo-bouncing adventures as he hunts for treasures in this classic action platformer.
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 - Play either one of the lovely chipmunks Chip and Dale as they rescue a missing kitten. Play solo or co-op with a friend!
Classic Games With Modern Touches
In a separate blog post, Capcom outlined some of the changes it introduced to the collection. While the games will retain their original gameplay and story, the games' graphics have been remastered to be played on 1080p screens.
Capcom also introduced three new game modes to make the gameplay more appealing to modern tastes.
The REWIND! Mode allows players to well, rewind the game in case they miss a jump or smash headlong into an enemy. Simply hold down a button to go back some seconds and re-play the game. A trip back in time, just like this classic games rerun!
The BOSS RUSH! Mode lets you add more challenge to these games by adding intense boss battles without the ability to REWIND. Remember the frustration of beating a boss when you were still young? Relive that moment with this mode!
The TIME ATTACK! Mode lets you race against the clock to complete the game in the shortest time possible. Check the online leaderboards to see if you have the best record. No REWIND mode, so practice!
Other bonuses that Capcom promised are classic concept art, sketches, music, and other "fun extras." Get the Disney Afternoon Collection on April 18 for $19.99.
