Waze And Spotify Team Up For Seamless Navigation With Music In The Mix Without Having To Switch Apps

Waze and Spotify have teamed up for a neat mutual integration, allowing drivers to enjoy both services without having to switch apps.

This means that Waze is now integrated into Spotify and Spotify is now integrated into Waze, so users can access either service from within either app. It's a power-combo for road trips, regular commutes, and virtually any drive, as it allows users to enjoy seamless navigation with music blasting at the same time.

Waze Spotify Integration Benefits

"With Waze, you're already covered with the most reliable navigation. And now, thanks to Spotify, your killer playlists (and even the embarrassing ones you'd prefer to listen to with the windows up...) are all on the very same screen," touts Waze. "No more awkward flipping back-and-forth between apps or ending your favorite Friday-in-traffic tune to find the quickest way to the grocery store."

"Listening to music in the car just got better. Today, Spotify and Waze team up to bring your favorite artists and music along for the ride — directly into the Waze app — making your commute or next road trip more enjoyable," adds Spotify.

Sorry, iOS Users - Android First

This neat integration between Waze and Spotify is not available for iOS users, at least not at first. While Spotify simply says that the seamless integration is available only to Android users, Waze notes that it will return with more updates for iOS users.

This means that although this Waze and Spotify integration will arrive only for Android at first, it should extend the same courtesy to iOS users later on. Waze says that the integration is set to roll out for Android users "over the next few weeks."

Waze Spotify Integration: How It Works

Thanks to this integration, users will be able to start driving with Waze from within the Spotify app, or access their Spotify music from within the Waze app. At the same time, users will also be able to switch between the two applications with just a single tap, but only when the car is completely stopped. To help prevent accidents, the Waze app does not allow users to browse while the vehicle is in motion.

Accessing your Spotify playlists from within the Waze app is easy and straightforward. If you have Spotify installed on your device, its icon will be visible on Waze. Just tap that icon to open Spotify and the last song played will resume automatically, without interrupting your Waze navigation.

Similarly, accessing Waze from within Spotify is equally easy. If you have Waze installed, its icon will appear at the top of your Spotify drive mode screen. Just tap it to start navigating with Waze without interrupting your music experience.

If you've ever played music on Spotify while also trying to launch a map app, you're likely excited for this Spotify - Waze integration already. It's all set to start rolling out to Android users globally, and we'll let you know as soon as we get more details on the subsequent iOS rollout.
