Twitter recently held its Analyst Day conference where it announced various plans for the coming year. Apparently, Twitter users should expect to do more with their tweets which would include new ways to enjoy videos. The latest update now allows users to record, edit, and share their own videos natively on Twitter. The said feature is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2015.
Just more than a year following the company's IPO, Twitter focuses on making its platform more engaging and easier to use for both new and current users. The company is employing such strategy as a way to address its declining user growth and as a response to investor queries on how big the company can really achieve.
"We're exploring ways to surface relevant Tweets so the content that is interesting to you is easy to discover - whether you stay on Twitter all day or visit for a few minutes - while still preserving the real-time nature of the platform that makes Twitter special," said Twitter in its official blog post.
In order to give users more relevant content, Twitter plans to deliver a snapshot that would feature the things that are currently happening as opposed to simply sending a barrage of tweets which tend to just say the same thing.
Twitter would also want their users not to miss relevant tweets from the people they follow. The company has devised a specific algorithm that studies the information of who the user follows and what he engages with. It then uses the gathered information to highlight those tweets that he may have missed and to show tweets in the news feed right after the user has logged back in.
"We're also working on ideas such as an instant, personalized timeline for new users who don't want to spend time cultivating one on their own," said Twitter. "Ultimately, we believe there is something for everyone at any time on Twitter, and we want to make finding your niche simple from the start."
The new product plans that were laid out on Wednesday's event seemed to look appealing to investors as shown by an increase in Twitter stock which had reached over 7 percent in trading.
Other features that twitter users can expect from the update would be a fuller feed of breaking news and alerts, enhanced private messaging system, more standalone apps, and a guarantee that the company will not offer a subscription service.
