Microsoft Studios has released its March update for the popular action shooter Gears of War 4. Like the Valentine's Day patch, the March patch is packed with updates such as two new maps, game changes, and even Funko toys. Players can now download the patch via their Xbox One and Windows systems.
Gears of War 4 is an action adventure third-person shooter released on Oct. 11, 2016 for Xbox One and Windows PC. It runs on Unreal Engine 4.
Diner And Old Town Maps
Players looking for new maps to unleash hell will be in for a treat with two new map additions.
First is simply called "Diner." As the name implies, multiplayer battles can rage in a "lone neon-lit diner in a dusty wasteland." According to the patch notes, Diner was developed for 18 months and it represents the most refined tactical experiences in a Coalition map.
Expect intense indoor battles as you battle for the control of the most important part of a diner: the kitchens. Also, Sniper Spawn point is crucial to this map, as close-quarter battles can be a bit claustrophobic, so a distance from the fray is always welcome. Speaking of distance, the parking lot is open for everyone but no cover means easy pickings from ranged weapons.
Gears of War 4 is also bringing back the classic "Old Town." The map from GoW 3 has been reimagined as a snowy UIR Coastal town. The three-lane layout is still the same; the Sniper and Torque locations are still there, and so are the market stalls and tight alleyways.
The two maps are already available for Season Pass holders, and as a bonus, they will get Double XP and 20 percent Bonus Credits. For regular players, the maps will come on March 14.
Ranked Lobbies
For more competitions, Ranked Lobbies have been introduced for Competitive and Core playlists, making Ranked matchmaking more organized. During matchmaking, you can wait in a pre-game lobby (hence the name). The feature also has map voting, customization, and bounty selection options. When the match is over, you'll go back to the lobby and search for a new playlist without the need to manual-restart. The developers hinted at more future updates for Competitive and Core playlists.
Gnasher Improvements And Future Updates
Gnashers also received some attention with mechanical modifications to improve its close-range consistency.
In the coming months, a new Legacy character will be available for collection. Though this character can be crafted, lucky fans can find him early in the upcoming March Gear Packs. For fans of Funko toys, the toymaker is introducing a new set of Pop! figurines coming late spring.
On March 24, Gears of War 4 will launch a Versus-themed weekend and a Horde-themed event the weekend after. Also, new characters and weapon skins are all set for introduction in the coming days.
