The highly anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update is now finally available to the AT&T-exclusive Samsung Galaxy S7 active.
Put simply, the rugged version of handset is now joining the Nougat party along with the standard models, coming hot on the heels of Verizon's rollout.
At Last, All Galaxy S7 Units Receive Android 7.0 Nougat
As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S7 phones from all four major carriers in the United States — AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon — already received Android 7.0 Nougat, and the Galaxy S7 active is the latest to jump on the bandwagon.
This news comes straight from the horse's mouth, particularly when AT&T updated its support page for the Galaxy S7 active. Put simply, it started pushing out the latest Android version with the build number NRD90M.G891AUCU2BQB2 to the phone on March 7. It's pretty hefty too, weighing at 1.58 GB.
What's The Galaxy S7 Active Again?
As a refresher, the main differences between the Galaxy S7 active and a standard variant are the extra protection features and additional physical buttons on both sides of the home button. More than that, it's also bringing the battery size up from 3,000 mAh to 4,000 mAh.
Also, as everyone knows, it's exclusive to AT&T, which is up for grabs with a $695 price tag.
Notable Features To Expect From Android 7.0 Nougat
To get a better picture of what Android 7.0 Nougat is bringing to the table, let's take a quick look at some of the notable features it comes with.
First off, there's the Galaxy Note 7 feature Secure Folder, which takes advantage of Samsung's Knox, and what it does is it allows users to store private notes, pictures, contacts, documents, and whatnot with a password or biometric security.
Second, users can now change the resolution, from HD and FHD to WQHD. After the update is installed, its previous reports said that the resolution will be set to FHD. Now, it's not much of a big deal, but it's still good to know that it can be adjusted, especially for those who want to save battery by switching to HD or get the crispest viewing experience they can by going with WQHD.
Last but not least, there's a Blue Light Filter option now too, and it helps with reducing eye strain, particularly when using the phone in the dark.
Of course, that's not all there is to the update, but these are just a few of the features that show how significant Nougat is.
Wrapping Things Up
Long story short, AT&T has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the Galaxy S7 active, and owners can now manually check for the update already.
It should be pointed out, however, that users should have enough space and a stable Wi-Fi connection before going through with the download since the file is 15.8 GB, after all.
Now that everything's cleared up, are you one of the Galaxy S7 active owners who got the update? If so, feel free to hit us up in the comments section below and let us know about your experience with the latest Android version.
