Starbucks’ New Macchiato Drinks Will Be Your New Obsession This Spring

Every Starbucks lover appreciates an iced Caramel Macchiato once the weather starts to get warmer, but these two new drinks might just replace the popular beverage to become consumers' new obsession.

Starbucks revealed two new macchiato additions to its spring time menu, the Coconutmilk Mocha Macchiato and Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato, which are both available starting today.

Both the new macchiato drinks are available either hot or iced, so that coffee lovers can enjoy the flavors no matter what the iffy spring weather of the day is. Both options will pretty much be replace the Caramel Macchiato for some since they are topped with Starbucks' signature crosshatch of caramel sauce.

However, it's all about the layers of flavor with these new drinks.

The Coconutmilk Mocha Macchiato is recommended as a hot drink for sweater weather, but looks just as delicious iced.

It's made be having espresso shots poured over steamed white chocolate mocha flavored coconut milk. Also added on top of the drink is a swirl of mocha sauce to accompany the caramel drizzle to complete the five layers of flavor.

The other new beverage, the Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato is recommended severed iced, and features the smooth and creamy combo of almond milk, cinnamon and caramel.

Baristas pour espresso over steamed almond milk and cinnamon dolce syrup. The drink then has a caramel crosshatch and a sprinkle of cinnamon dolce topping.

While both beverages sound delicious, they also swap whole milk for dairy-free options. But does this mean they are healthier?

Technically they are lighter options since both almond and coconut milk are high in healthy fats and low in calories, but remember we are talking about a whole lot of sugar in Starbucks' signature drinks.

Starbucks' cinnamon dolce syrup has 19 grams of sugar and 80 calories alone.

The Coconutmilk Mocha Macchiato has 180 calories with 8 grams of fat in a grande size, whereas the Cinnamon Almondmilk Macchiato has 190 calories and 6 grams of fat.

Starbucks' two new macchiato beverages are available starting Tuesday, Feb. 28 for a limited-time at participating stores in the United States and Canada.
