How many times have you been on Instagram and positioned your photo perfectly and selected a filter that enhances the photo's mood only to accidentally switch around a couple of letters in the caption? Too many times to count probably.
Well, this scenario is a thing of the past because Instagram now lets you edit captions. Go ahead, take it all in. Just let that feeling waft over you. It feels good, doesn't it?
Instagram announced the update in a post on its official blog Nov. 10. "This has been one of the top requests that we've heard from the community, and we're excited to finally bring it to you today," the company wrote in the blog post.
To edit a caption, you can just navigate to the menu beneath your photo, and tap on the "Edit" option to change the words that accompany your photo. This is a big game-changer. Now instead of throwing away all of your hard work because you accidentally typed "#yool" instead of "#yolo," which I'm sure happens to you all the time, you can just go back in and fix your mistake, hopefully before anyone sees it. On second thought, you may just want to delete "#yolo" altogether, because it's really time to retire that hashtag.
In addition to this update, Instagram also updated the "Explore" page. The "Explore" icon is now a magnifying glass, and on the actual page you can toggle between "Photos" and "People." The grid that features the "Photos" we've all come to know and love remains the same, but the "People" section now lets you scroll through little previews of accounts suggested for you.
Both updates are available for free for iOS and Android devices today. Now get out there, explore, and don't be afraid to make some mistakes. Well, at least ones that can be fixed with the click of a button.
