Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) Receives Wi-Fi Certification, MWC Launch Possible

Samsung is expected to debut a new lineup of smartphones at its press event at the MWC this month. While the Galaxy S8 smartphone may miss the party, the company is anticipated to debut the 2017 models of its Galaxy J7 and Galaxy J5 smartphones.

Giving fodder to these assertions is the news that the Galaxy J5 (2017) has received Wi-Fi certification, which suggests that its launch is drawing nearer.

The Galaxy J5 (2017) - the successor of the Galaxy J5 (2016) - carrying the code number SM-J530FM/DS has been given the green signal by the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) per reports.

However, the WFA listing does not reveal details of the impending handset's specs and features.

The only information that can be garnered from the certification is that it will come pre-loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and not the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.

The 2016 model of the Galaxy J5 came with a 5.2-inch super AMOLED display screen and consumers would be hoping that the successor follows suit. The older model also houses a massive 3,100mAh battery, 2 GB of RAM and a quad-core processor, clocked at 1.2GHz. The 2017 variant can be expected to improve on the RAM capacity and processor at the very least.

Galaxy J5 To Release Alongside Galaxy J3 And Galaxy J7?

Samsung may possibly introduce a trio of devices from its Galaxy J series per speculations. The 2017 Galaxy J5 may also arrive alongside the much-rumored Galaxy J7 (2017) and the Galaxy J3 (2017).

The Galaxy J7 (2017) has been spotted on benchmarking sites innumerable times and has even received an FCC certification, which confirms that it will make its way to the U.S.

The U.S. variant of the smartphone is rumored to sport a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It could be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and house 2 GB of RAM.

The smartphone may come in a 16 GB storage option and will possibly boast an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary snapper. The device will likely come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow per leaks.

Like the Galaxy J5 (2017), the Galaxy J3 (2017) is also supposed to arrive with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. It will reportedly have a 5-inch HD display.

Samsung's press event is slated for Feb. 26 where the company is anticipated to unveil its Galaxy Tab S3, whether the three Galaxy J smartphones also debut at the event remains to be seen.
