Despite all the controversies and scandals that plague the early presidency of Donald Trump, President's Day is pushing through on Feb. 20, and you may be assured that retailers will take it as an opportunity to offer deals and sale items.
Best Buy, for example, has already launched an early access event leading to its own President's Day sale, and it reportedly includes a discounted MacBook Air.
MacBook Air Sale
On Feb. 15, the latest model of 13.3-inch Apple MacBook Air got a $750 price tag. This is a significant price drop given the fact that the device retails for $1,000. The higher-end 256 GB version, which costs $1,200, is also being offered for $950. The last time the base model went on sale was last September, when Best Buy sold it for $799.
The MacBook Air sale is notable because Apple is known for being stingy about its products, which is the reason why it is rarely offered with discounts. Best Buy itself is yet to make a formal announcement about the event.
Customers using Visa card are also entitled to $25 discount if they purchase an item worth $100 or more. It is not yet clear, however, if the MacBook Air deal is also covered. A Slick Deal user has posted that it is qualified and that the total price is now $725 plus tax.
One should note that if you head to Best Buy's store, the MacBook Air is still listed with its original price. The reason is that the Early Access event to the President's Day sale is only available to those who have Best Buy accounts. According to Slick Deals, the account probably has to be Elite or Elite Plus for the price to be reflected.
If you have an account and would like to check if the deal is real or if you qualify, you can head to the Early Access page.
Best Buy Appliance Sale
Those in the market for other devices, Best Buy will also hold an appliance sale. Consumers can enjoy up to 35 percent discount on refrigerators, washing machines, and televisions. If you buy three or more Samsung appliance, you will also get a free smart HDTV.
Experts say that President's Day sale is the best time to get a television.
"Presidents Day is one of the best times to get a TV," Mark Maaza, PromoCodeWatch cofounder, told TIME. "The Super Bowl will have come and gone, so many stores like Walmart and Best Buy will offer name brand TVs at their lowest prices of the year."
Just a tip to President's Day shoppers: before you make any purchase, check alternative products and retailers that allow code and coupon stacking.
