Nintendo's NES classic Mini is hard to get hold of at the $60 retail price thanks to its popularity. The retro console is perennially sold out on retailers and can only be availed at higher price points.
Things worsened when rumors started floating that the console would reportedly be phased out by Nintendo.
However, Nintendo has silenced all speculations and the company has refuted claims that the NES Classic Mini's production is being ceased.
For the unfamiliar, various online outlets reported a day ago that the company has cut short the production of NES Classic Mini and it may not be possible for retailers to deliver all existing orders.
The rumors started when a NeoGAF member going by the name of Roarer posted in the forum, that Scandinavian retailer Bergsala has affirmed that the NES Classic Mini has come to the end of its production line and would be phased out soon.
Nintendo Responds To Claims
Before gamers go berserk, the company has sent out a statement confirming that the production for the console is not going to end anytime soon
The company asserted that the production of the popular gaming console will be continued, as well as the shipment of the units will take place on a regular basis.
"Production for the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES continues, and NOE [Nintendo of Europe] will continue to ship units to retail on a regular basis," said a Nintendo UK representative to a tech website.
The news will comes as a huge relief to consumers who were distressed by suggestions that the console would be phased out.
Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima stated during an investors call in January that though there has been shortage of NES Classic Mini units in the past, the company is ramping up the production and chances of buying the console look better.
Kimishima apologized to both customers and the retailers for the problems due to the late production of the units, justifying that it took too long for the procurement of some certain complex parts. He further added that Nintendo was working hard to increase the production of its gaming consoles so that such hindrances could be avoided in future.
For the unfamiliar, the NES Classic Edition sold out within days of its November 2016. The NES Classic Mini Edition is priced at a paltry $60 and comes preloaded with 30 games. The retro console includes classics like Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Castlevania, Super Mario Bros, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and more.
