Fact: everyone loves Oreos. It's basically the greatest cookie ever made: chocolate and cream, that's all the Oreo needs. It's perfect; you can eat it plain, dip it in milk, even coat them with peanut butter. If evidence of true perfection exists anywhere within the universe, it's probably the Oreo.
Of course, as with all successes, spin-offs of the cookie emerged. First, there were Mini-Oreos, which made sense: they were Oreos on-the-go. Next, it was ice cream with Oreos inside, which was another fantastic idea, though it wasn't exactly necessary. Finally, there's the Oreo Brownie: it's not bad, but it's starting to stray a bit from the formula.
Now we have the latest Oreo variety to salivate over: the Oreo Churro.
What's you're seeing is 100% real: J&J Snack Foods announced the Oreo Churro in a press release earlier this week. It is exactly what it sounds like: a churro that looks and tastes like an Oreo cookie. Is it delicious? Ridiculous? Or both?
For those that have never tried a churro, the snack is essentially fried dough filled with cinnamon and sugar. They are usually eaten with breakfast and dipped in coffee or cocoa. Instead of a little ring of cake, it's a long cake stick...and just like donuts, churros are incredibly addicting.
The Oreo Churro seems to be an effort to introduce Americans to the Spanish treat, because if you're going to introduce a foreign snack, it has to be in familiar packaging.
J&J Snacks also announced that the churro would be available in different varieties: regular, bite-sized and 'double-twisted.'
For now, J&J Snack Foods has yet to announce when the Oreo Churro will be available for purchase, but expect to see the snack on store shelves sooner rather than later.
