Nokia in collaboration with HMD global is trying to revive its golden past.
According to rumors, Nokia is looking to resurrect its N-series smartphone and may unveil the same as early as next week.
The latest news comes courtesy a leak from Weibo, which reveals that the N-series will be debuting on Feb. 22.
The Nokia N5 Teaser
The teaser from 360 Mobiles on Weibo shows off an invite for a press conference which teases the details of the program. It offers the directions of the event, which are in Chinese, and also has the text "N-series once more" inscribed in the invite's center.
The black colored invite mentions the Feb. 22 date and also hints that the smartphone which will be unveiled from the N-series will be the N5. The teaser image is reminiscent of the Nokia N81 smartphone.
N5 is a device of their company which has a teaser of "N-series once more" and everyone thought that Nokia is going to launch the N-series once again.
The Weibo leakster shared two images - one of a closed box with N5 inscribed, and the second one showing the open box with a smartphone beside it. The second image points to a smartphone which bears a resemblance to the N81.
The Nokia N81 was synonymous with multimedia capabilities and even boasted a specific button that opened the multimedia carousel.
It will be interesting to see if HMD Global and Nokia resurrect the N81 or the N5.
Nokia N5: Rumored Specs
A listing on TENAA has previously shared that the Nokia N5 smartphone will have model number 1605-A01.
The rumored smartphone will likely boasts a 5.5-inch FHD display. Under the hood, the Nokia N5 may house a Snapdragon 653 processor, which is clocked at 1.8GHz and 6 GB of RAM.
The Nokia N5 will reportedly come pre-loaded with the older Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphone will also offer on-board storage of 32 GB, which will be expandable (maximum 128 GB via a microSD card). The Nokia N5 may also house a powerful 3290 mAh battery.
Release
The news of the N-series' relaunch will be very exciting for consumers who will be looking forward to the company's comeback. The last N-series phone was the N950 which was a developer model but not released for consumers.
The Nokia N5 is expected to debut on Feb. 22 per the latest teaser and could be released in select markets in the coming months. Leaks have hinted that it will cost 2,000 yuan, which is approximately $290.
