Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus Support Page Goes Live In India Ahead Of Launch

The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are not official yet, but Samsung India has already launched what looks like a support page for the larger smartphone.

Samsung had a bit of a mixed year in 2016, tasting both success and failure with its flagships. While the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge proved popular and raised plenty of interest, the Galaxy Note 7 was off to a strong start only to cause a huge fiasco over exploding batteries.

The Galaxy Note 7 fiasco eventually resulted in two recalls, which took a toll on the company's finances and reputation. Samsung tried to ride the storm by banking on its existing, non-explosive flagships - the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge - and even released an S7 edge version in the Blue Coral avatar previously reserved for the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7.

While some Samsung fans remained loyal despite the fiery Galaxy Note 7 scandal, others lost their trust in the Samsung brand and it's paramount for the next-generation Galaxy S8 series to make up for the Note 7 disaster.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus Confirmed

Just recently, a leaked logo seemingly confirmed the Galaxy S8 Plus moniker and now another confirmation comes from Samsung India. The company's Indian branch launched a support page for a device with model number SM-G955FD, believed to be none other than the dual-SIM version of the Galaxy S8 Plus. The upcoming smartphone's single-SIM variant is believed to carry model number SM-G955.

It remains unclear for now whether Samsung India launched the Galaxy S8 Plus support page by mistake or in preparation for the big launch. The most likely scenario is that the support page went live by accident.

Samsung recently sent invites to its MWC 2017 event, but the company had already confirmed that it will not be unveiling the Galaxy S8 series at the show. Instead, the upcoming Galaxy Tab S3 tablet could be the star of Samsung's MWC 2017 event.

The Samsung Galaxy S8, meanwhile, is expected to make its formal debut on March 29 and hit store shelves in the second half of April.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus Specs

Based on leaks and rumors that have surfaced so far, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is expected to boast a massive 6.2-inch display with a QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 processor, Samsung's own Exynos 8895 SoC (depending on region), and up to 6 GB of RAM.

Other rumored specs include 64 GB of base native storage, a 3,500 mAh battery, a nearly bezel-free design, an iris scanner, and a nifty AI assistant called Bixby, rumored to support up to eight languages. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus should launch with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, with TouchWiz UI on top.

The purported Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus support page on Samsung India doesn't reveal new details about the smartphone, but it does seem to confirm the model number and the existence of a dual-SIM version, at least for India.

Without any additional information or official confirmation at this point, it's still advised to take all reports with a grain of salt for now. The rumored unveiling is just a little over a month from now so we'll get the official scoop directly from the source soon enough.
