Motorola has pushed out the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Moto Z smartphones in the U.S. and benchmark listing suggests that the handset may soon get another software upgrade.
If a listing from GFXBench for the Moto Z is to be believed, then the smartphone is poised to get the Android 7.1.1 Nougat version.
The listing suggests that the company is working on Android 7.1.1 Nougat as the Moto Z smartphone running the OS has been benchmarked on the site.
This news will be welcomed by owners of the handset and it suggests that Motorola is looking to keep customers happy.
Earlier this month, the company pushed out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the unlocked variant of the Moto Z in the U.S. This update was rolled out sooner than what the company had promised.
Moto Z Android Update
The latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat update is said to be for the current-gen Moto Z per reports and not the Moto Z (2017).
However, a disparity is reflected by the benchmark listing. While the processor deployed the current-gen Moto Z is the Snapdragon 820 - as mentioned in the listing - the GFXBench listing points to a different processor speed i.e. 2.1 GHz instead of 1.8GHz.
For the unfamiliar, the Moto Z has a 5.5-inch Quad HD display which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. It features a 12MP rear camera and a front facing camera of 5MP. The device also features a fingerprint scanner.
Android N Update
The Android 7.0 Nougat update brought with is several new features for the Moto Z smartphone. Some of these features included the multi-window view support, as well as the work mode which allows the users to turn on and off some of the related apps and notifications on the phone.
Aside from this, the update also introduced a direct reply feature which let users reply to messages right from the notification bar itself. Features like the Doze mode which ensured that the device uses less power when not in use was also added.
Even though there is a lot of excitement in the air about the Android 7.1.1 update, the company has not yet divulged much information about when and if it shall be rolled out for the Moto Z. Users would wish it to be sooner rather than later.
