LG Watch Sport To Cost $100 More Than The Watch Style, Here's Why

Google and LG are rumored to be working on two new smartwatches running the new Android Wear 2.0 OS, which will allegedly debut in February.

The two rumored wearables are the LG Watch Sport and the LG Watch Style, which have also leaked on previous occasions.

The latest buzz is that the LG Watch Sport will be $100 more expensive than the Watch Style. This news comes from online publication Android Police, which cites industry sources.

"Today we can confirm via one of our trusted sources that its bigger, LTE-enabled brother will cost $100 more. The LG Watch Sport will have an MSRP of $349 here in the US, though it is unclear if color or band options could raise that price for certain configurations," reports the publication.

Why $100 More?

People must be wondering why the latest edition of the LG Watch Sport has been priced $100 more than its Watch Style sibling, which was rumored to be priced at $249 earlier in January.

Watch Style has also leaked in different colors — Silver and Rose Gold. This leak came from the well-known leakster @evleaks.

Those wondering about the price difference between the LG Watch Style and the LG Watch Sport need to remember that the latter packs in better specs and features.

Unlike the Watch Style, the Watch Sport supports both LTE and NFC. Thanks to this NFC compatibility, the Watch Sport will also be able to support Android Pay — a mobile payment system.

The Watch Sport will also reportedly include a heart rate monitor, a bigger and denser display, and a GPS support that enables one to travel smoothly by locating their direction easily.

Like the Apple Watch and the Watch Style, the LG Watch Sport is also expected to have a "digital crown." This may aid in navigation and let users interact with Android Wear 2.0's new rotational control feature.

With these inbuilt features, the $349 price tag for the LG Watch Sport seems justified.

Another factor that may affect the price of the product could be the color options. However, it is not known whether the Watch Sport will also be made available in Rose Gold and Silver.

LG'S Watch Sport will offer tough competition to the Apple Watch 2, which is $50 more expensive.
