If you happened to live through the 1980s, you know what a strange, glorious decade it was. For instance, one could write a show in which a young man grabs a sword, takes his shirt off, instantly grows a set of abs and rides a green tiger through the jungle without being accused of abusing hallucinogenic drugs. It was just a different time: kids' shows today are all about comic book superheroes and ponies, but back then, cartoons looked like something off of the cover of a thrash metal album.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was a prime example of just how ridiculous '80s cartoons could get. G.I. Joe was all about the Army and Transformers was about giant robots, but The Masters of the Universe was about ridiculous fantasy adventure. The show featured a long list of unique characters (to be turned into action figures) who went on seemingly pointless quests (so that nothing had changed by the end of the episode) while fighting all manner of mythical villains and monsters.
Out of the entire lineup, not only was the evil Skeletor the greatest of He-man's enemies, but he was quite possibly the greatest villain ever created period. There's plenty of reasons to back that claim up, but instead of explaining it all in detail, there's video proof to demonstrate Skeletor's greatness:
Half the time, the great demon Skeletor sounds like nothing more than a schoolyard bully, and the rest of the time he's calling someone a boob. It's absolutely amazing, especially with that whiny, nasally voice. On any other character in any other situation, a voice like that would have caused kids around the world to shut their TVs off and go outside, but for whatever reason, when it comes from Skeletor's mouth, it just works. Watching such a supposedly powerful being speak with the voice of an overly-upset middle manager is pure comedy gold.
Of course, this mash-up isn't the only comedy to come from The Masters of the Universe:
Why Dreamworks Animation decided to put up a random montage of Skeletor insulting his minions is anyone's guess, but the important thing to remember is this: books are the real treasures of the world!
