Apple has had a busy couple of months, unveiling a slew of new devices in September and then doing so again in October.
Ever since the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were released, the world has gone iPhone crazy, with the latest iPhone arriving with the latest version of iOS, iOS 8.For many users, especially those brand new to Apple devices, that means a double learning curve and it's hard to tap all the new features if you're not aware or unsure how to acess them.
So we mapped out a 'top five feature' list of the new iOS 8 and ferreted out some great YouTube videos that provide good insight, tips on how to use them.
1. Apple Pay
Apple Pay is one of the biggest new features in iOS 8, with Apple aiming to change the way people pay for things. While the feature is only compatible in stores with the iPhone 6, users of any iOS 8-compatible iPhone can use Apple Pay to pay for items online using their device. Check out the video below to see how to set up and use Apple Pay.
2. Continuity
Another important new feature in iOS 8 is Continuity, which greatly improves the connectivity between iPhones, iPads and Mac computers running OS X 10.10 Yosemite or later. The video below mainly focuses on the connectivity that can be achieved between an iPhone and an iPad, although the concept is pretty much the same on a Mac.
3. Family Sharing
Family Sharing is another great feature on iOS 8 but a little less talked about than features such as Apple Pay and Continuity. Family Sharing is essentially the ability to share purchases on iTunes and the App Store without having to pay more than once. Find out how to enable Family Sharing and make the most of it below.
4. iCloud
iCloud itself has been around for a while now, although Apple really stepped up its game with iCloud this year, especially by adding things like iCloud Drive. iCloud Drive is an easy-to-use way to store files online, similar to Dropbox or Google Drive. The video below shows how users can take advantage of iCloud Drive.
5. HealthKit
HealthKit is a platform for users to sync all health-related data in one easy-to-use spot. HealthKit records metrics such as heart rate, calories burned, blood sugar, and cholesterol. The video below shows some of the features of HealthKit along with the accompanying app, the Health app.
