'Mass Effect: Andromeda' New Trailer Features Aliens, Allies And More

The new trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda has been released and the world of Habitat 7 is not so lonely, it seems.

The trailer from the latest Mass Effect game revealed a lot about what awaits our characters as they travel the deep space into unknown worlds. It looks and feels like a movie trailer, which is very apt, given the scope of the game, but with an exciting gameplay.

The trailer begins with a voiceover asking "Is that our golden world," a reference to "Habitat 7", a name for the earth-like planet in the Andromeda galaxy that might be suitable for survival of the human race.

We see a shot of the Hyperion, the Ark colony vessel our main characters are riding in search for new world. Inside are thousands of humans in cold deep sleep. A male voice cast then speaks, referring to the Hyperion as being "marooned" and now it is the Pathfinders' quest to see if the planet is a "safe harbor" to land on.

Then we see the shot of the main character, Scott Ryder (or Sarah if the player chooses female). While the main characters are human beings, we also see alien species as part of the ship's crew, like the trusty Krogan reptilian race. The trailer revealed a Salarian pilot, though what his role in the plot remains unknown.

As the Pathfinder ship moves towards the planet, an encounter with a not-so friendly alien species commences. "Surrender or burn," greets the Archon, the game's main antagonist.

The safe harbor might not be safe, after all.

But worry not, as the trailer also shows few other alien species, like the Angara race, who seems friendly though a bit cautious of the human "from another galaxy". Making an ally of them depends on the player's decision.

Part of the trailer also showed some of the members of the squad. We see Liam, the team's security and response specialist. As described by BioWare, Liam has already "made a name for himself in the Milky way". We also see Cora Harper, the second-in-command of the Pathfinder team who "had the unique experience of training with the Asari matriarchs." The trailer also showed some touchy-kissy scene with Cora that maybe hints of "romance" feature of the game.

A gameplay trailer was earlier released featuring the game's vast world, combat mechanics, crafting system, and navigation. Mass Effect: Andromeda is an open-world shooter game developed by BioWare. It is set to hit the stores on March 21, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
