Users of the Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power will be disappointed to learn that the two smartphones will not be getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update.
This is no rumor and has reportedly been confirmed by Motorola itself on its support page, according to a report from TechDroider. The publication stated that the the two phones will languish on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
"It's now official that the Motorola Moto E3 Power won't get Android 7.0 Nougat update, i.e. will remain on Android 6.0 Marshmallow," notes the publication.
It is not that Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power's hardware doesn't support the Google latest operating system, but it seems that Motorola is not putting too much effort to upgrade the two handsets.
The only explanation for not updating the handsets with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system may be that both the Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power house a quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor, clocked at 1 GHz, which may not be optimal for Android 7.0 Nougat to run smoothly.
The other reason for not updating the phone might be the low RAM. The Moto E3 has just 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, which may prove too little for the Android Nougat update.
The Moto E3 Power, on the other hand, has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, which is sufficient for the Nougat operating system to run smoothly. So it can be deduced that, the MediaTek chipset is the real reason for Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power to not get the updates.
