Wondering why your Sony Xperia smartphone or tablet hasn't received the Android 7.0 Nougat update even though the company pushed out the update last week?
The company abruptly halted the deployment of the latest update to the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3+, and the Xperia Z4. That's right! Sony stopped the roll out of the update due to some "inconsistencies" in the Android N update for the three devices.
Sony has now shared that it is "still working" on getting the problem resolved.
The company took to Twitter to clear the air with a short message, clarifying that it was working on the problems posed by the update on a few devices.
What Was The Update All About?
Sony began pushing out the Android 7.0 Nougat update in January for its Xperia Z5 smartphone series as previously reported by Tech Times.
The Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Premium were the first in the series to benefit from the OTA update which brought a slew of new features such as multi-windows support, as well as improved battery life. Google Now was also integrated into the Xperia Home launcher and a self-timer button was made available for the selfie camera post the update.
The Xperia Z4 tablet and the Xperia Z3+ smartphone followed suit as they were next in line to receive the Android N update from the company.
However, users who updated their smartphone complained of battery drain issues, which prompted Sony to abruptly stop the Android 7.0 Nougat rollout for the three devices.
"We were made aware of reports from some users experiencing inconsistencies related to audio playback via third-party apps and SD card encrypted data read performance, after upgrading to Android 7.0, Nougat. We've identified the root cause and are aiming to provide corrective firmware and re-commence the rollout as soon as possible," averred Sony at the time.
It's been nearly a week since Sony's admission, but it seems the Japan-based company is yet to resolve the issue.
When Will The Update Resume?
Sony has not shed light on when it would resume the Android 7.0 Nougat update's rollout for the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z4, and the Xperia Z3+. The exact date is shrouded in mystery as the company only mentions "ASAP" in its Twitter post.
Hopefully, when the roll out of the Android N resumes for these devices, Sony would have tackled all the bugs and lived up to its promise of a stellar user experience.
