After the Honor 8 receives the Android Nougat update, it seems that Huawei is already thinking of launching the device's successor dubbed the Honor 9.
According to a new report, Huawei's Honor brand could receive a boost, as the company is expected to launch a new flagship in the coming months.
The source of this information is a listing on TENAA, which is the Chinese equivalent of the FCC. A mysterious Honor smartphone bearing the model number DUK-TL30 has been certified by TENAA, suggesting that its release is not far away.
Since the listing does not reveal the name of the smartphone and only its model number, it is not confirmed whether the device is the Honor 9 or some other handset under the brand name.
Rumored Specs
It is expected that this upcoming Honor 9 mobile device would be an enhancement over its predecessor the Honor 8. Based on the listing, the rumored handset will be equipped with an octa-core processor clocked a 2.4GHz and will possess Kirin 960 CPU compared to the Honor 8 version which had Kirin 950 chipset.
It will also probably have a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, house 6 GB of RAM, and could tout an onboard storage of 128 GB, which will be expandable to an additional 128 GB via a microSD card.
The Huawei Honor 8 is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery, whereas the Honor 9 is expected to house a 3,900mAh battery. The smartphone will offer dual-SIM support and may also pack in a fingerprint sensor.
In addition, this flagship device will probably have a dual-camera setup — a 12-megapixel primary camera along with a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash system. The secondary camera of the device is expected to be 8-megapixels, making it perfect for taking selfies and also video calls.
The smartphone listed on TENAA measures 6.18 x 3.05 x .27 inches and weighs 6.5 ounces.
The 4G LTE capable smartphone will also support Bluetooth 4.1 and may launch in a gold color per reports. The mysterious Honor smartphone could also come pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat.
May Not Be Honor 9?
Since the Honor 8 has been updated with Android 7.0 Nougat version recently and the phone is already doing so well in the market, a possibility exists that the company may not look to launching the successor Honor 9 soon. Therefore, the Honor DUK-TL30 could be a completely different handset.
Huawei has an event scheduled on Feb. 26 at the MWC 2017. Whether this mysterious Honor device will be unveiled alongside the rumored P10 and P10 Plus smartphones remain to be seen.
