LG Sends Press Invite For Its MWC 2017 Event, LG G6 Launch Inching Closer

LG has sent out press invitations for its event at the impending Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona in February.

The LG press event is scheduled for Feb. 26 at 12:00 p.m. local time, which is 6:00 a.m. ET, and fans would be hoping that the company launches the successor of the LG G5 i.e. the LG G6.

The image on the invite is shaped like a handset and accompanied by the slogan "See More, Play More" which picks up where LG's "Play Begins" save the date teaser left off.

The MWC 2016 saw the arrival of the LG G5 and, therefore, it could be safely assumed that the latest LG G6 would be unveiled during the MWC 2017.

LG has been giving quite a number of hints of a new smartphone's — possibly the LG G6 — arrival through teaser videos in the lead-up to the February press event.

The invitation urges one and all to save the date of the big reveal. The invite shows a misty and calm, green lake with mountains at a distance and fireworks illuminating a star-studded sky. The slogan "See More, Play More" along with the date is written in the foreground and placed in the middle of the picture. The fireworks suggest that LG has a major announcement up its sleeve.

LG G6 Rumors

According to reports, the latest LG handset would feature a 9:18 aspect ratio and sport a 5.7-inch QHD LCD display.

The aspect ratio will make the LG G6 phablet look narrower and will add to Android Nougat's split screen and multi-window functionality.

Rumors also hint that the device would forego the modular design and the LG G6 will come with a back glass panel, with an edge-to-edge display.

The LG G6 is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 processor and would boast 6 GB of RAM.

In addition to this, it is expected that the handset comes in multiple storage options i.e. in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB, unlike its predecessor LG G5 which packs in 32 GB of on-board storage.

The LG G6 camera qualities are also expected to get an upgrade and customers can hope for at least a 21-megapixel primary camera. As reported earlier, the smartphone will likely come pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat.

It has been rumored that the device could also pack in a removable battery in place of a non-removable one as LG is playing safe after the Samsung Galaxy Note 7's battery fiasco.

The LG G6 phablet is expected to hit the shelves on March 10 in home country South Korea, with a global rollout to follow soon after.
