After the backlash Evernote faced in 2016 because of its pricing structure, the app is back in the game with a new version — Evernote 8.0 for iDevices like the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Evernote claims that this new design is its "fastest" and most "elegant" iOS app ever made.
The announcement of the update came through a blog post on Jan. 17 on the company's website. Evernote's chief product officer, Erik Wrobel, said the new design has made note taking much easier and simpler.
"Some of the feedback we've received from users has been that they love all the capabilities and the power of the product, but at the same time they're trying to get in and out of the application very fast," says Wrobel.
The design for iOS has been made keeping in mind the requirements of the customer. The new design enables the user to find notes faster and also brings various customization options at the user's fingertips.
Evernote 8.0 Features
The new iOS design features upgraded navigation for the users to reach their notes faster. Evernote has gotten rid of its home screen, so now users can access the most recent notes with a single tap. This attribute not only makes the navigation faster but also enables users to start working from where they left off.
The fresh new look of the app will now make it easier for customers to toggle between notebooks to find notes. In Evernote 8.0, there is a notebook selector above note lists. Only one simple tap on the notebook selector is required to access any other notebook in the app.
Evernote has also made note taking much simpler by providing a "plus sign" button to create new notes. If instead of a text note, the user wants to take an audio or image note or even set an alarm, all he or she needs to do is to long press the plus sign and slide one's finger to the desired option.
Breaking the mold of the same styled black text, Evernote has decided to bring in colors and make note taking a colorful experience. Evernote 8.0 features pre-defined text colors and font sizes, not only to make the note look beautiful but also to call attention to key points.
Evernote Business customers will not get confused between personal and professional notes as Evernote has created two different accounts for easier usage.
"We've also made it easier to switch between your personal and business accounts. Simply long-press 'Account' on the tab bar to switch to another account," says Evernote in its blog post.
The app is currently available in the Apple store for download. If you have something more to add from your experience of using Evernote 8.0 on your iDevice, let us know in the comments section below.
