Close on the heels of pushing out the Android 7.0 Nougat beta program for Axon 7 owners, ZTE is now extending the initiative to users of the ZMax Pro smartphone.
ZTE has now made available the Android 7.0 Nougat program for the ZMax Pro owners in the U.S.
The ZMax Pro is currently running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and news of the beta testing for Android 7.0 Nougat will undoubtedly excite users of the device. Why? As this news suggests that ZTE will be soon making available the latest OS to the ZMax Pro users.
The ZMax Pro is an entry-level handset and it is interesting to see ZTE beta testing Android's latest version on a phone that is relatively cheaper than several of its other offerings.
ZMax Pro Beta Program: How To Enroll
The beta program from ZTE is officially dubbed the Software Enhancement Program and the company has introduced a Google form which interested users can fill. To register for the ZMax Pro beta program, users will need an account on ZTE's Z-Community.
The registration page can be accessed through the account. Participants will then need to enter some basic information like their name, email, phone number and other data. They will also require to be agreeable to the condition of using ZTE's debugger while testing the beta.
The Axon 7 is also getting Android 7.0 Nougat as an update soon and ZTE will naturally look to do the same with its other handsets.
ZMax Pro Specs
The ZMax Pro sports a 6-inch FHD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, which clocks at 1.5 GHz and has 2 GB of RAM.
The smartphone is equipped with 32 GB on-board storage, which can be expanded via an SD card. The phone also features a 13MP primary camera and the secondary shooter is 5MP. The ZTE smartphone also houses a non-removable Li-Ion 3400 mAh battery and has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The smartphone, which is targeted at budget conscious buyers, cost $179. That ZTE will push out Android 7.0 Nougat for this entry-level smartphone is a refreshing change as OEMs usually consider such handsets that ZTE has lined up a beta test for this cheap smartphone. Entry-level phones are usually the last to be considered for a software update.
The stage is set for Android 7.0 Nougat debuting on the ZMax Pro and owners will be pleasantly surprised to experience changes which the latest OS update will bring in its folds.
The latest update from Android features several new upgrades, such as an enhanced and detailed UI and a revamped look for the notifications. It also has new features, such as Instant Apps, Power saving, Vulcan API Support, Daydream VR and more.
