Nintendo Switch is all set to receive the latest Mario game, Super Mario Odyssey. As teased in the Nintendo Switch trailer, Mario is indeed heading towards a home-coming of sorts with Nintendo.
Super Mario Odyssey is the most recent addition to a long list of games under the Mario franchise and Nintendo will look to capitalize on the brand value and nostalgia surrounding the iconic character.
Super Mario Odyssey is the successor of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy. The game also features scenes from locations inspired by real cities like New York.
What Is The Mario Franchise?
The Mario franchise is one of the most popular and best-selling gaming franchises of all time. The signature gameplay includes Mario running and dodging obstacles and enemies in a bid to rescue a damsel in distress - Pauline or Princess Peach. The characters vary in the games.
Apart from its flagship game, Super Mario, the Mario franchise also boasts several hit games like Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, and Super Mario RPG amongst others. The franchise has also been included in numerous films, television series and telefilms and acquired a cult status in the gaming world.
Where Can You Play It?
The game debuts on the Nintendo Switch which has been confirmed to have 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth account support. It will not support 3G and LTE connections. Based on the fact that Nintendo never offers support for mobile networking, this move does not come as a surprise. Rumors of a non-removable battery are rife, which will make repairs to the console a bit tough.
The performance of the console is also not anything to be excited about. As tested by EuroGamer, the device churns out an output of 307.2 MHz of graphical power undocked and generates 768 MHz when docked.
These figures make the Nintendo Switch less powerful than the other gaming consoles in its league i.e. the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and others. Steering clear of all this speculation, Nintendo is yet to announce the under-the-hood specs for the console.
Super Mario Odyssey Release
With the newest game in the Mario series scheduled to release during the 2017 holiday season, fans will be eagerly waiting for Super Mario Odyssey. They will look forward to relive their childhood and play as Mario in his quest to save his girlfriend from evil.
Also releasing on the new Nintendo Switch are games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Fast RMX, Snipperclips, Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Delux. Gamers will therefore have a lot to look forward to in 2017, as Nintendo has stacked up plenty of surprises for its fan base.
