Nokia 6 Takes On OnePlus 3T: Camera Comparison Of The Two Smartphones [Video]

Nokia 6 is all set to give a tough fight to its competitors in the mid-range smartphone segment as it has all the features to match up to other smartphones in the same league.

While the sluggish Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset powering the 5.5-inch Nokia 6 smartphone may be a negative, the devices has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of on-board memory (expandable up to 256 GB), is a saving grace.

One of the rivals for the Nokia 6 - if it releases in the U.S. as anticipated - will be the OnePlus 3T, which is the upgraded variant of the OnePlus 3.

Here's a look at how the cameras of the two smartphones fare when pitted against each other.

The Adversaries

Equipped with a 16MP rear-facing shooter and an 8MP front-facing snapper, on paper, the Nokia 6 seems competent enough to shoot smart and crisp pictures. The camera packs in the following capabilities: a 1-pixel size, dual-LED flash, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and FHD recording (1080p at 30fps) video recording.

The OnePlus 3T also has a 16MP primary camera like its rival. However, this camera has a Sony IMX 298 sensor. The OnePlus 3T offers PDAF support as well and has an aperture of f/2.0. It also provides 4K video recording at 30 fps, which is better than the 1080p offered by the Nokia 6. Slow motion videos at 720p can also be recorded at a speed of 120 fps by the OnePlus 3T.

The front camera of the phone betters the Nokia 6 thanks on the pixel count alone - the OnePlus 3T has a 16MP selfie snapper, equipped with a Samsung 3P8Sp sensor and an aperture of f/1.0.

The Face-off

The Nokia 6 and OnePlus 3T have the same 5.5-inch FHD screen and similar specs and therefore, a YouTuber decided to test the camera capabilities of the two Android smartphones.

The 2-minute long YouTube video shows off a comparison of several pictures clicked by the Nokia 6, as well as the OnePlus 3T.

The Nokia 6 fares well when it comes to long-range photography, with a much clearer focusing mechanism than the OnePlus 3T. When zooming in, the image clicked on the OnePlus 3T looks much clearer. There is a slight dullness in the Nokia 6's image, when zoomed in.

Night mode pictures are much better in the OnePlus 3T. Nokia tries hard to click the perfect shot in low light but the OnePlus 3T excels. There is a slight yellow tinge to the picture, though.

The Verdict

Video recording in both the smartphones are quite up to the mark. Both the phones have a 16MP primary camera and, therefore, record very clear and sharp videos. The OnePlus 3T features an Optical Image Stabilizer which gives it a slight edge over the Nokia 6.

Given these specs, there have been a few instances where the Nokia 6 has clicked much better pictures than the OnePlus 3T.

The Nokia 6 has done well to install such a brilliant camera on its smartphone and it is safe to say that this phone has a much better camera than quite a few other smartphones on the block.

As reported earlier, Nokia has teased an event on Feb. 26 and it could possibly announce the launch of the Nokia 6 smartphone is the U.S. at this event. If the Nokia 6 makes its way to U.S. shores, users will be able to get a more comprehensive look at the camera and decide for themselves.
