Security groups and demonstrators are already busy preparing their respective groups' lineup of activities for the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States on Jan. 20 in Washington, D.C.
The stage at the West Front of the Capitol is now being built and polished up for one of the most talked about events in a president's term both for its political and cultural significance. The oathtaking of U.S. presidents is (usually) graced by big names in the entertainment industry.
With Trump, real estate tycoon and star of his own TV show, taking oath on Friday, many are asking who will be the A-List performers at his inauguration.
Who Are Performing At Trump's Inaguration?
Trump's victory in the polls also won him a seemingly divided nation. His remarks have caused mostly negative reactions not only from ordinary citizens but also titans of industry and celebrities — A-list celebrities — who publicly display their opposition to the president-elect. This means he cannot have Beyoncé and Yo-Yo Ma perform at his inauguration like they did for outgoing President Barack Obama.
It is not yet certain whether The Beach Boys and Rebecca Ferguson would be performing along confirmed artists Talladega Marching Tornadoes, the Rockettes, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and the biggest name in the lineup yet: Jackie Evancho.
The Backlash Of Performing For Trump
Some of the confirmed performers have had to think long and hard before coming out with their final decision to attend and perform at the inauguration.
Talladega Marching Tornadoes' confirmation sparked a debate at Talladega College, a historically black institution.
"As many of those who chose to participate in the parade have said, we feel the inauguration of a new president is not a political event but a civil ceremony celebrating the transfer of power," said Billy Hawkins, president of Talladega College.
Members of the Rockettes and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir hesitated — some even quit the choir — following announcement of their participation in the program.
Skyrocketing Sales For Jackie Evancho Due To Trump?
Jackie Evancho was a former contestant on America's Got Talent, and she previously performed at events of the Obama administration.
At 16 years old, she has achieved skyrocketing album sales which, Trump claims, was the effect of the "movement" after being announced as a performer at the inauguration.
Representatives of Sir Elton John, who was initially said to be performing at the state event, denied reports he would be performing.
