Samsung fans, who have been hankering for the Android 7.0 Nougat software update to hit their Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge smartphones, will be pleased to learn that the company is now rolling out the update.
That's right! Even though a leaked release schedule from Samsung hinted that the latest update for its 2016 flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones will be released on Tuesday, Jan. 17, the South Korean OEM has pleasantly surprised users by pushing out the update a week earlier than planned.
News about the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat software update comes from the publication SamMobile. The publication reveals that users who were testing the beta version of the update are the first to benefit, and non-beta users should soon follow suit.
"Following weeks of testing, Samsung has finally begun rolling out the official Android Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. Those on the Nougat beta should be seeing an update around 215 MB in size; regular users will get the update as well, although Samsung is giving the early bird advantage to those running the beta version," reveals the publication.
How The Android Nougat Arrival Saga Unfolded
In November 2016, it was reported that the beta testing for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge was kicked off. In the same month, Samsung outed the beta 3 for the two handsets, which also focused on bug fixes and minor enhancements such as an improved Quick Panel usability. This suggested that the official release of the update is imminent.
In December 2016, the two Samsung smartphones benefited from the fourth beta, which did not bring any major changes, barring some bug fixes and few stability improvements. This update also removed the Samsung Notes app.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update was pushed out by Samsung to several handsets earlier in January as part of its soak test. This indicated that the final build will be making its way to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones soon.
The fact that Samsung has been efficient and pretty quick in pushing out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7, will definitely please the its customers. Users will soon be able to take advantage of the features and improvements the Android N update brings in its folds, including a new UI.
While the leak mentioned the Jan. 17 rollout for the update, a possibility exists that this date is intended for non-beta users of the device.
Thanks to the update, the Samsung smartphones move from Android Marshmallow to Android 7.0 Nougat and not Android 7.1.1 as rumored.
