Ever wanted to ask Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg why poking is still a feature on Facebook? Or what the Facebook of tomorrow will look like? Head over to Facebook at 2 p.m. PST on Nov. 6 and you might just get the chance.
Zuckerberg will be hosting a Q&A next Thursday and is opening it up to everyone. The CEO will answer the questions that get the most "likes."
"Ask me a question below in the comments, or vote on a question you want me to answer by liking it," said Zuckerberg on the official Q&A with Mark event page. "I'll be answering questions for about an hour, and will try to get through as many as I can."
According to Zuckerberg, the Q&A session is simply an extension of what goes on at Facebook every week.
"We have a tradition at Facebook, where every Friday we have a Q&A and all employees can come and ask me questions about anything they want," said Zuckerberg. "It's an important part of Facebook's culture. People ask thoughtful questions about why our company is going in certain directions, what I think about things happening in the world, and how we can continue improving our services for everyone. I learn a lot from these Q&As, and the questions people ask help us build better services."
The event is very similar to the popular "Ask Me Anything" events that are held on Reddit. These events invite celebrities to take questions from the Reddit community. Recently popular figures such as Flea, the bassist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Will Ferrell have taken part in Reddit "AMAs." Even tech figures such as Bill Gates have taken to the platform to host a Q&A. Around two years ago, President Barack Obama did a surprise AMA which brought so much traffic to Reddit that it crashed a number of times.
So far, questions include the likes of "If you could go 10 years back in time, what kind of advice would you give 'young Mark?' " and "you haven't tweeted in a couple of years now. Do you ever login to Twitter and read tweets? Do you find Twitter to be a useful service?"
Thousands of questions have been posted so far and while Zuckerberg promises to hit as many as he can, it is likely that only about 15 or 20 questions will be answered.
