CES 2017 may still be in full swing, but we have already identified some of the best laptops that we can confidently say will stand out even after the event wraps up.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga
Lenovo's new laptop lineup at CES includes nine devices but the ThinkPad X1 Yoga managed to stay on top of our minds. The notebook will immediately impress with its near bezel-less 14-inch OLED display, capable of a pixel resolution higher than 4K.
Remember that this $1,499 device is a 2-in-1 laptop so while it is quite versatile, we had a few reservations.
The reason is that the ThinkPad line has always been the go-to device for those with discriminating keyboard preferences. But because of its current form factor and the slimmer body, we were concerned that it compromised this very component.
Thankfully, Lenovo was able to develop its so-called retractable keyboard concept, which did not sacrifice keyboard travel and tactile feedback when it is in use.
Other key features include a 16-hour battery life, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640, a fingerprint scanner, and a number of connectivity options such as Thunderbolt 3 port, two USB 3.0 ports, and an HDMI port for 4K display connectivity.
HP Elite Spectre x360
Like the X1 Yoga, the 15-inch HP Elite Spectre x360 is also a convertible laptop outfitted with a 360-degree hinge. It is, therefore, perfect for consumers looking for flexibility when it comes to daily usage.
The laptop boasts Intel's latest Kaby Lake processor, an Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics card, Core i7 processor, and 16 GB of RAM.
While the touch display does not offer full HD capability, it still has a 4K UHD screen. Also note that the Spectre x360 has an upgraded battery technology compared to its predecessor, so it should last longer. We will be content if it at least matches the longevity of its older iteration. Pricing starts at $1,280.
Samsung Notebook 9
You have to lay your hands on this notebook to understand why we think the Notebook 9 is easily one of the most impressive portable computers at CES. It is incredibly lightweight that you will find yourself perplexed how the stunning display and the 15-inch piece of technology could possibly work as well as promised while weighing a mere 2.17 pounds.
Note that the body is made of magnesium alloy and Samsung states that the battery life could last up to 15 hours.
The company is also touting that the Notebook 9 is a workhorse, packing a Core i7 processor, an Nvidia 940MX GPU, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1080p screen.
Other notable features include the 180-degree rotating hinge, fingerprint sensor, and of course, excellent HD display quality. The design is certainly not shabby at all.
